Need A 03' Ford Taurus Starter?
shenita01 asked:
My starter went out. I price the auto part store and they are expensive. I call a salvage yard and they have one that is a little cheaper. Is a salvage yard ok to get a starter from our should I go to the auto parts store? Any answers would be grateful!

Everyone wants to save money. I also want to. But when it comes to my car, there are two places that I spend a little extra, on the battery ( new and high cold crank power- I buy the middle priced one ).
Also, I do not buy salvage yard parts unless they are unobtainable. In your situation; a starter is hard to replace, it isn't like changing a light bulb, so you buy the part from the auto parts store. You don't want to be replacing it in one, three or six months. I have a personal link to this question because of my cousin. He has several cars that he is always tinkering with. He constantly complains because he has to keep replacing parts at short intervals. He buys his batteries, starters, alternators and other parts at salvage yards. I try to tell him that saving a few dollars here and there can result in having to work on a car in the winter because of salvage yard parts.
I advise getting the auto parts starter and toughing it out with the higher price. You'll be happy on that cold cold morning when the car starts like a charm.
